Just because this annual event happens every year means everything is simply a rerun from the previous ones. No no no! This year, RCA Sportsfest and Family Day has some things to call its firsts.
Another whole-day event was held which showcased the competitive outlook while maintaining the friendly camaraderie all through out. Royal Child Academy 10th Annual Sportsfest and Family Day has the theme Recreating the Value of Family Unity through Sports.
Aside from the usual lighting of sportsmanship torch, reciting the pledge, Mr. & Miss Sportsfest, parents & kids' games, zumba and field demonstration competition, this year is Royal Child Academy's 1st celebration of Sportsfest and Family Day with its 5 campuses. The new campus added to the big family - Canjulao! The campus where my kids are.
Here is the programme.
And because it's the month of Sinulog Festival, RCA paid tributes by having Sinulog Festival Dance as the concept for the field demonstration competition.
For the reason that Canjulao campus didn't met the required number of participants for the field demonstration competition, this branch was exempted. This school year, Canjulao campus has no grades 4 to 6 students yet so they graced their moves for a dance presentation only.
My daughter in her festival queen costume.
My son in his festive costume as well.
Last 2 RCA Sportsfests, my son participated in Storytelling and Spelling contests on which he won 1st and 2nd place respectively. This year is his first time to compete in sports - scrabble and badminton. He didn't won in scrabble but bagged the 3rd place in badminton for both single and double categories.
Like every other school activities, I really want to expand the main goal of the school administration - parent's engagement. And for that, sportsfest opened games for parents again! Of course, I am one of the parents who supported the goal. Luckily, I brought home the bacon! First placer in scrabble and word factory only because I'm not an athletic type.
Congratulations to everyone who sported their way to the top while having fun. Kudos to the Royal Child Academy staff who facilitated fair competitions.
At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents.
