For the past 3 years in our own family home, we only had a small Christmas tree. It's only 2 feet tall which we think was good enough for a family of "small" like us. Hahaha! So last October, my 4-year-old daughter told me that she likes a bigger Christmas tree. And in a Frozen theme which means she wants blue and white to be dominant colors. Here's our simple Christmas tree and how we made some of its decors out of upcycled materials...
We threw its plastic and repurposed the ribbon that was wrapped around. So now, it's among the upcycled Christmas tree decors.
If you're watching Tinkerbell movies, you'll know Periwinkle. She's her twin. When you're a mom you'll know every movies your kids like, and even memorize the lines, plots, songs, etc. Hahaha!
My mom friend gave these fairy characters on my daughter's 3rd birthday. I put them on her Tinkerbell birthday cake. We only get and upcycle Periwinkle for the Christmas tree because she has the "frozen" characteristics - blue, white and on top of it all, she's a winter fairy!
Our youngest sister who is an Industrial Design instructor has DIY colorful beads which includes these and gave them to my daughter as something to tinker on. The other colors are lime green, orange and pink.
I don't know what it's called but it look like an icicle or stalactite. We gathered only the blue ones and let my daughter insert the yarn through them to hang onto the Christmas tree.
Basically, your kids' toys are great things to make your Christmas tree look lively and your kids happy with it is a jolly sight.
It's great to always involve your kids in house decorations as this will enhance their creativity and resourcefulness.
