Hey mommies! I understand not all mommies are superwoman. Even if we think we can do everything, still we need to mind ourselves as we are not exempted of weakness. Especially after any dental operation, one should take extra care.

before my tooth extraction
Before the tooth extraction is done, my dentist gave me this note regarding do's and dont's after the operation.
Here's the text form:
POST OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Bite on gauze/cotton for 10-15 minutes after tooth extraction. Expect some blood and blood-stained saliva throughout the day (this is a normal process).
Place an ice pack over the face on the side of the extraction for 15 minutes each hour on the first day of extraction.
DO NOT RINSE YOUR MOUTH TODAY. Tomorrow start rinsing your mouth with warm water (not very hot) every 2-4 hours while awake and especially after meals.
In a gentle manner, you may begin to brush your teeth the day after the extraction. DO NOT BRUSH THE SITE OF EXTRACTION.
Resume eating and drinking as long as you are comfortable and the anaesthesia has worn off. AVOID EATING HOT, SPICY AND HARD FOOD for 2-3 days after extraction.
DO NOT DRINK THROUGH A STRAW. AVOID SMOKING AND TOO MUCH SPITTING FOLLOWING TOOTH EXTRACTION (to avoid excessive bleeding).
Suggestions for diet following tooth extraction: ice cream, shakes, soups (not hot), juice, soft rice and congee (not hot).
Avoid vigorous activities. Avoid bending or heavy-lifting for 2-3 days after tooth extraction.
When lying or sleeping, elevate your head with several pillows. (This will minimize swelling and bleeding).
If bleeding persists, place gauze or cotton pack directly to the tooth socket and bite firmly for 30 minutes.
If the tooth removed is IMPACTED (3rd molar), expect swelling linger for another 48 hours (2 days) before it starts to decrease. Discomfort may also be present for 48 hours before it starts to alleviate.
Please follow the prescribed medicines for you.
As I've said, my dentist is also a mom. So she suggested that the tooth extraction should be done on Monday so I can have enough rest (according to the timeframe given in the note) before doing the household chores in the weekend. Of course, I followed. Remember that important tip mommies and take care always.
